There are a number of difference cable categories, called CAT numbers. Cat 5e is the most recently ratified standard for voice and data cable. It is capable of handling data transmission rates of up to 200Mbps. CAT 6 transmits data running at 600Mbps
We would recommend that network cabling of at least CAT5e standard be used. This will ensure future requirements will be accommodated.
There are two main types of cabling used to structured cabling installations; UTP (unshielded twisted pair) and fibre optic. The majority of computer networks are cabled using UTP. Fibre optics are used for high speed and high width applications, it is compact, easy to install and is widely accepted as the ultimate structured cabling vehicle. We can supply full optical cabling solutions covering an extensive range of cable and connector types supported by the necessary accessories to enable a complete optical installation.
Our own (not sub-contractors) qualified engineers provide a project managed full data cabling service, whether a full installation or additional network points. All work is carried out to the highest possible standard with a service second to none.
